Good Cop

Good Cop

In the first 8 minutes of Good cop, the first scene starts in darkness with a shine of a yellow/orange glow from a street light this shows a dramatic effect as it sets a dark scene for the episode as pc Rocksavage has a gun which he takes into his house and is acting very suspicious so it makes you wonder as a viewer what has he done with the gun, so the programme is gripping from the start.

When he walks into his house he awakes his dad who is lying in bed, his dads wallpaper is shredded and his room is a mess so that is also a clue to make you think what might be wrong with his dad.
John Paul starts to get very nervous when he enters his room and he chucks the gun on his bed and slams the door behind him, this makes you wonder what he has done as he shouldn’t be panicking as he is a policeman. When he slams the door behind him he leaves blood on the door but he doesn’t really pay attention to it as his main concern is the fact he has a gun in his house and it has his fingerprints all over it. The blood on the door may symbolise death or a wrongful doing as it makes you wonder what PC Rocksavage has done wrong and this builds up anticipation and grips the viewer as they want to know what will happen next. The music that is played in the first scene is very sad and fits in nicely with the dark theme at the start.
The next scene goes back in time and John Paul is running down the beach and sees a women and a young child. He is surprised to see this women and that makes the viewer think that there may have been a previous relationship between the two, the women does not seem interested in having a conversation with him and doesn’t want him to see the child, so this makes you wonder if the child is his. This leaves the viewer wondering about what the relationship is between the two and also there is a bit of sympathy towards John Paul so this makes him a likeable character from the start.

After the first few scenes it leaves you wondering what John Paul did with that gun, what sort of relationship he has with his dad and is dad mentally stable and also what the relationship is between the woman and girl who he saw on the beach and what relation he is to them. It leaves the viewer gripped after only the first 8 minutes.
